Reds sign Sevens speedster
May 15 2008
The Reds have signed Australian U20 and Sevens speedster Blair Connor to a two-year Super 14 contract.
Connor, who plays wing and centre, has been developed through Brisbane club Norths and the Reds system, impressing for the Queensland Academy this year.
"He showed during last year's Australian Rugby Championship (ARC) and in Trinity Premier Rugby this year that he's an exciting player and a tough little rooster," said Reds high-performance manager Ben Whitaker.
Connor, the leading try-scorer in Premier Rugby with nine, gives the Reds cover at outside centre if they lose incumbent number thirteen Morgan Turinui overseas.
He will leave for Canberra next week to prepare for the inaugural (U20) IRB Junior World Championship to be held in Wales in June.
