Ulster capture Schifcofske
May 19 2008
Ulster have confirmed the signing of Queensland Reds duo Clinton Schifcofske and Ed O'Donoghue on two-year deals.
Schifcofske, 32, has been a huge hit at the Reds having switched from rugby league - where he spent ten years - and has represented Australia A in the Pacific Nations Cup.
In his first match for Australia A, the hard-running full-back scored a personal tally of 23 points and has a kicking success rate of almost 80 per cent.
"I'm really looking forward to this new and exciting chapter in my life and rugby career," Schifcofske said.
"I know the Ulster fans are very passionate and supportive of their team and I'm really looking forward to myself and the team giving them plenty to cheer about.
"I was also delighted to be coming over with my current team-mate here at the Reds, Ed O'Donoghue. Ed's become a good friend of mine and is a terrific young player with loads of potential."
Irish-qualified O'Donoghue is returning to the UK after a two year contract with Queensland Reds. Before heading to Australia O'Donoghue spent three seasons in England with Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors.
"I'm really happy to be turning out for Ulster and excited about the possibilities of the coming season," the second row said.
"I'm delighted the club has given me the chance to be part of the squad and excited about being back in the UK."
