Is Jerry Collins off to Europe?

Final hurrah: Collins may have played his last game for the Hurricanes

As the Hurricanes said good-bye to this season's Super 14 they may well have been saying good-bye to Jerry Collins as well.

With Neemia Tialata scoring a consolation try after the hooter the conversion was handed to Collins, and not first-choice kicker Jimmy Gopperth.

There has been growing speculation that Collins will leave New Zealand for Europe at the end of the season, and Hurricanes captain Andrew Hore gave the biggest hint yet that those rumours are true.

When asked if there was any significance behind Collins taking the conversion Hore was not shy in coming forward.

"What does it mean when most players take a conversion like that?" Hore told Sportal.

Although Collins himself was not so keen on talking about the rumours, rather focusing on the fact that his side had just crashed out of the Super 14.

"I don't really want to talk about it really," he said.

"To be honest, we just lost the semi-final.

"Everyone's a bit down. The last thing you want to be talking about is myself in a group of 36 that has slogged it out during the year.

"We're pretty much down and it is a team thing tonight.

"We're just going to enjoy each other's company because we're never going to have the same group again, players and management."
