Dickinson: The Springboks' 'favourite' ref won't be making the trip to South Africa

Australian referee Stuart Dickinson has withdrawn from his two Test appointments in South Africa this month due to injury.

The top Australian referee would have refereed the Tri-Nations clash between South Africa and New Zealand at Newlands on August 16 and was to have been the assistant referee to Wayne Barnes for the Mandela Tribute Test between South Africa and Argentina in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Matt Goddard will now be the reserve referee in Johannesburg and will referee at Newlands.

Goddard handled the match between the All Blacks and Springboks in Dunedin just over two weeks ago which was won by the Springboks.

James Leckie will move from TMO duties to assistant referee in Johannesburg and Wayne Barnes of England, who is the referee in at Coca-Cola Park (Ellis Park) will be the reserve referee at Newlands.

Geoff Warren of England will be the TMO in both matches.

It was to have been James Leckie in Johannesburg and Wayne Barnes at Newlands.

August 9:

South Africa vs Argentina in Johannesburg

Referee: Wayne Barnes (England)

Assistant Refs: Matt Goddard (Australia), James Leckie (Australia)

Television match official: Geoff Warren (England)

Assessor: Tappe Henning (IRB)

August 16:

South Africa vs New Zealand at Newlands

Referee: Matt Goddard (Australia)

Assistant Refs: Wayne Barnes (England), James Leckie (Australia)

Television match official: Geoff Warren (England)

Assessor: Tappe Henning (IRB)
