Testing Times: Quins boss Dean Richards has sought cover for his international scrum-halves

Harlequins have bolstered their squad ahead of the new season by signing Neath scrum-half Gareth Williams on a two-year deal.

The Wales Under-20 star will have a battle on his hands at the Stoop: he arrives as fourth-choice scrum-half behind England internationals Danny Care and Andy Gomarsall and Samoa's Steve So'oialo.

But the young Welshman is relishing the challenge of the Guinness Premiership.

"I'm delighted to get a chance at the top level and in such a professional environment," he told BBC Wales.

"It's the chance I've wanted for a long time and I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Williams has also played for the Barbarians, Glamorgan Wanderers and the Blues and Ospreys Academy teams.
