Clermont test Pumas loosie

August 20 2008

New arrival: Jean-Marc Lhermet with Alejandro Campos (R)

Pumas loose forward Alejandro Campos touched down in Clermont on Monday for a two month trial with the last season's Top 14 Finalists.

A new adventure has begun for one of Argentina's young hopefuls, Alejandro Campos who has joined last season's table toppers with the hope of becoming a permanent fixture for les jaunards by the end of his trial period at the end of October.

Campos, who has already been selected three times for his country now has the chance to show off his skills alongside countrymen Mario Ledesma and Martin Scelzo.

"It's a dream come to for me," the 107 kg Campos told the Clermont website.

"ASM is a club I watch on television. I know that they are really demanding here, in a very competitive championship."

The Clermont management brought the 1,90 m tall 25-year-old over from Buenos Aires after hearing good things about him.

"We want to bolster our third row with a player like Alejandro," said club manager Jean-Marc Lhermet.

"In the medium term, his ability as a ball carrier who can get around the park is interesting."

"I like playing an attacking game, carrying the ball and getting involved," said Campos.

"I was lucky enough to play with Mario (Ledesma) with the Pumas. He is someone who is a role model and has the experience to keep us on the right track. Its an honour to play with Martin (Scelzo) too."
