Neil Best: Hoping to have his ban reduced

Northampton Saints have appealed against the 18-week ban imposed on Neil Best for illegally making contact with the eye or eye area of London Wasps' James Haskell with his hand during the Guinness Premiership match on September 20.

The appeal against the sanction imposed on September 30th will be heard by a Rugby Football Union Appeal Panel on Monday October 6 at the London Bloomsbury Holiday Inn, Coram Street. The panel will comprise chair Ian Mill QC (Blackstone Chambers), John Doubleday and Robert Horner.

Best cannot be selected by Northampton Saints until the final determination of the appeal.
