Double blow: Both the Ospreys and Wales will miss Thomas' presence

The Ospreys and Wales have been dealt a major blow with the news that Jonathan Thomas will be out of action until the end of Novemeber due to a groin injury.

Thomas, who has been an integral part of both sides for some time now, has had ongoing groin problems and will now go under the knife to solve them.

"Jonathan has been suffering from a gradually worsening groin injury which, up until now, hasn't stopped him playing," Chris Towers, the Ospreys' physio said.

"Having assessed his condition on Wednesday a decision was made to refer him to a specialist who has identified the need for surgery. Jonathan will undergo an operation on Friday and is looking at a possible six week lay-off."

Not only will he miss the Ospreys' game against Perpignan this weekend, but the operation will rule him out of Wales' arduous November internationals.
