Chris Rossouw: Forced to call it quits

Cheetahs fly-half Chris Rossouw, brother of former Springbok star winger Pieter, has decided to hang up his boots with immediate effect.

Rossouw, 32, featured prominently for the Cheetahs during the Currie Cup this season following his return to Bloemfontein from a stint with French club side Toulon.

But the former Western Province and Stormers number ten suffered a number of recurring concussions and was advised by medical experts to call time on his career.

Rossouw says that after consulting a number of specialists he knows that he made the right decision. Another heavy knock to the head and he could have suffered brain damage.

He was set to play a pivotal role for the Cheetahs in next year's Super 14 and this news will be a big a blow to coach Naka Drotske's plans.

Rossouw will remain in Bloemfontein and will look at business options or possibly move into coaching.
