Thursday is D-day for Roberts
July 01 2009
The British and Irish Lions will know on Thursday morning whether standout centre Jamie Roberts will be fit for the third Test in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Roberts had a run with the other players on Wednesday after leaving the field in Saturday's hard Test at Loftus, won 28-25 by the Springboks.
His centre partner Brian O'Driscoll left for Ireland on Wednesday after being concussed in the Test and without any hope of playing according to the IRB guidelines for concussion.
A decision on Roberts' availability will be taken on Thursday morning after the Lions' training session, where he will make contact for the first time since the Test.
There was further good news for the Lions, with prop Phil Vickery's sore throat/cold not expected to hinder him from playing if selected and Tommy Bowe looking a certainty for selection after training on Wednesday.
Fly-half Ronan O'Gara will also be available for selection.
