Wilkinson impresses at Toulon training
July 03 2009
Jonny Wilkinson has completed his first training session at Toulon, with Director of Rugby Philippe Saint-André delighted with his pivot's hunger.
The 30-year-old World Cup winner, who has been absent from rugby action for what seems like an eternity due to differing injuries, turned out in the sunshine on Thursday for the highly ambitious French outfit.
Wilkinson joined fellow new signings Sebastien Bruno, Pierre Mignoni, Tonga Lea'aetoa, Joe El Abd, Felipe Contepomi, Jamie Robinson, Tom May and Kris Chesney in pre-season ahead of the Top 14 season.
And the former Sale boss admitted he was very impressed with his English playmaker as he put the squad through their paces.
"He's in good form, he passed his medical tests and physical tests," Saint-André said after 5,000 fans watched the session.
"He's shown he's feeling very good. It was his first training session, he wanted to get on the ball because he had not done so for eight or nine months."
