Switching regions: Gavin Thomas

The Dragons have strengthened their back-row stocks for the upcoming campaign with the signing of Gavin Thomas from the Scarlets.

International flanker Thomas moves east to Paul Turner's region after being released from Parc Y Scarlets at the conclusion of last season.

The 31-year-old is expected to act as cover for the ageing Colin Charvis and now retired Richard Parks after signing a one-year contract.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for us to be able to sign Gavin. He brings tremendous experience to our back row and is a ready-made replacement for Richard Parks," said Rugby Manager Robert Beale.

"Following his injury last season, Gavin is keen to get his career back on track and I am confident he will have a major impact in the team this season.

"Once again this signing demonstrates our commitment to the blending of youth and experience."
