Magners League: Fixtures for 2009/10
July 13 2009
The fixtures for the 2009/10 Magners League term have been announced, with champions Munster opening up against Glasgow at Firhill.
Tony McGahan's side are set to face the Scots on the weekend beginning September 4 before they host Cardiff Blues in what is a testing start.
The eighteen-round regular season runs through until the weekend of May 7, 2010. However, with the introduction this year of play-offs to decide the Champions, there is the exciting prospect of semi-finals to be held over the weekend of May 14, with the season concluding in the first ever Magners League Final the weekend of May 28.
Like their provincial rivals, European champions Leinster will also start their campaign on the road with a visit to Wales where the Scarlets lie in wait.
Elsewhere, Anglo-Welsh Cup holders the Blues welcome Edinburgh for the opening match in their new home at Cardiff City Stadium, whilst the visit of Ulster to Rodney Parade and Ospreys' game against Connacht make up the rest of the fixtures for the opening round.
These fixtures are weekend only dates; specific dates, kick-off times and in some cases venues, will be released later after consultations with broadcast partners and the teams.
