Kockott cleared to face Free State
July 29 2009
The outcome of Rory Kockott's disciplinary hearing was good news for the Sharks, a "not-guilty" verdict means the scrum-half will line up against the Free State Cheetahs on Friday.
Charl McLeod will provide back-up off the bench for the defending champions' Round Four Currie Cup visit to Bloemfontein this weekend.
Kockott was cited for an act contrary to good sportsmanship during his side's 19-13 Currie Cup victory over the Blue Bulls in Durban last Friday.
"There was nothing in it," said Sharks coach John Plumtree of the incident.
"He was in a ruck and his knee was in a player's head, but the player was not hurt, it wasn't intentional and there were whole lot of players on top of Rory, so he couldn't actually see what he was doing."
The Sharks have the good fortune of welcoming back Springbok number eight Ryan Kankowski to the team, but sweat on the fitness of three players.
In possible injury concerns, Odwa Ndungane, Michael Rhodes and Deon Carstens will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness, failing which Luzuko Vulindlu, Nikolai Blignaut and Patric Cilliers will take their places in the matchday 22.
