Frustrating absence: Regan King

Key centre Regan King is continuing to progress in his recovery after surgery on a hamstring problem, the Scarlets confirmed on Thursday.

The region's Physio, Patrick Moran, revealed that 28-year-old King required an operation on the injury five weeks ago after initially sustaining the problem against Leinster back in February.

It was thought the classy player would return to action before the end of last season but now it seems that October is the target for King and the Scarlets.

"We are really pleased with Regan's progress since the op, he is doing well and is on course in terms of his rehab back to fitness," said Moran.

"He had the surgery to assist recovery of the hamstring injury which had not healed extensively as hoped - the op went well and everything is well on schedule at the moment in terms of his recovery.

"He has already been undertaking light training and some upper body strength and we should see him running again by the end of August.

"We will be working closely with him, and are hopeful that he will be back and available for selection in the autumn."
