Steamers cut ties with coach

Having risen to the top of the Air New Zealand Cup table after two matches, Bay of Plenty have parted company with coach Greg Smith.
Smith and the Steamers have been involved in an ongoing argument, the details of which have not been made public, but Smith had been stood down by the BoP management shortly before the tournament began.
The team has gone to the top of the table without him.
Team Manager Sean Horan has been appointed Head Coach for the remainder of the season, with Steve Miln continuing as assistant.
