Cox out until New Year

Sale have been dealt an early-season blow after lock Sean Cox was ruled out until New Year with a knee injury.

The young forward, who only played twelve times for the Sharks last term due to another injury, sustained the problem against Albi on Saturday.

Director of Rugby Kingsley Jones admitted his disappointed upon hearing the news, especially with the 2009/10 Guinness Premiership now looming large.

"It's a blow for Sean and the club as it's the same injury that he sustained against London Irish last season," he said.

"He has worked hard during the close season and hardly had any time off. Sean will have an operation at the weekend and will miss the first half of the season but should be back playing early in the New Year."
