Eoghan Hickey: Off to Wycombe

London Wasps have signed London Irish's fly-half/full-back Eoghan Hickey and Scarlets tighthead Ben Broster on one-season contracts.

Both hold representative honours at age group level - Hickey for Ireland and Broster for Wales - and Broster also boasts two Test caps from Wales' 2005 tour of North America to his name.

The two players have been on the training tour to Poland over the past week and have fitted into the squad well, a trial period that has earned them the contracts.

"Eoghan gives us depth at fly-half which is important in the Guinness Premiership and will add competition for Danny (Cipriani) and Dave (Walder) at ten," said coach Tony Hanks.

"He brings a strong kicking game to the team and he has a wealth of experience having played with Ireland A as well as plenty of rugby at Premiership level.

"He is a quality fly-half but he also has the ability to play full back which, along with his strong kicking game, is something that could be really valuable to us this year especially with the importance that kicking is playing in the modern game.

"Having played international rugby as a young promising prop with Wales, Ben is looking for the chance to really establish himself at Premiership level - of which he has a great wealth of experience.

"We feel it is important to have depth especially at tight head and he brings that depth and quality to the existing group and I'm sure he will flourish under the coaching of Trevor Woodman."
