Rush joins Muller at Ulster
February 07 2010
Ulster have pulled off a second big signing in a week with the news that Cardiff Blues stalwart Xavier Rush has inked a deal in Belfast.
The former All Black will join the Irish province on a two-year deal according to Wales on Sunday.
The eight-Test cap number eight and former Cardiff captain has become on of the most sought-after loose forwards in the Northern Hemisphere after five sterling years with the Blues.
The 32-year-old has been a key element for last year's Anglo-Welsh Cup winners and Heineken Cup semi-finalists and his departure will come as serious blow to Dai Young's side.
Rush, who led the Auckland Blues to the Super 12 title in 2003, was also reportedly on the shopping list of Guinness Premiership clubs Saracens and Worcester Warriors, as well as new Aussie Super 15 franchise Melbourne Rebels,
It is believed that the Blues could simply not match the money offered by Ulster where Rush will join Springbok and Sharks lock Johan Muller, who signed for the province last week.
