Michalak in for injured Elissalde

February 04 2010

Out: Jean-Baptiste Elissalde

France have been dealt another injury blow with the news that Jean-Baptiste Elissalde has been ruled out of their Six Nations opener against Scotland.

Elissalde, who was set to cover both scrum-half and fly-half positions on Les Bleus' bench on Sunday, was forced to pull out of training on Wednesday with a painful calf muscle.

He has been replaced by Toulouse team-mate Frederic Michalak, team management said.

"Wednesday at training I felt a pain inside my calf which didn't seem to be too acute to me," said Elissalde.

"I even thought it might be a spasm.

"This morning, when I got up, it was hard for me to move my foot, to walk."

Elissalde also revealed he is unlikely to be fit in time for France's second game against Ireland.
