Hamilton heading north
September 25 2008
Former All Blacks winger Scott Hamilton has signed a two-year deal with the Leicester Tigers.
The Canterbury and Crusaders wing, who also plays full-back, will leave for England in November.
Hamilton will make his 71st appearance for Canterbury at AMI Stadium in Christchurch on Saturday.
A 58-match veteran for the Crusaders, he scored 105 points for the side in which he won a winner's medal in the Super 12 in 2005 and in the Super 14 in 2006 and this year.
"Scott is a very important senior member of our team and we'll miss him a lot," said Canterbury coach Rob Penney.
"As a player of some ability and profile, Scott is a great role model for all our players here and he's a great character to have on the field and dressing room."
Hamilton scored 175 points for Canterbury before the start of the 2008 season, and played two Tests for the All Blacks, against Argentina in Buenos Aires in 2006, in which he scored a try, and in the Tri-Nations win over South Africa in Wellington later that year.
