Tindall awaits fate of Ryan
June 11 2009
Gloucester captain and centre Mike Tindall has pleaded with the Guinness Premiership outfit to clarify the coaching uncertainties currently hovering over Kingsholm.
The England international, who watched through injury as his sixth-place team finished 2008/09 trophyless, admits players are eagerly awaiting clarification as to whether Head Coach Dean Ryan will be in charge for the upcoming term.
Much was expected from the strong squad last term, which was boosted by the off-season signings of Olly Barkley and Greg Somerville, but they failed to reclaim their regular-season crown and rarely threatened in Cup competitions.
Reports have been made by BBC Sport claiming that club Chairman Tom Walkinshaw 'launched an end-of-season review assessing all aspects of the club' following their poor term conclusion, leaving the Cherry and Whites awaiting any proposed changes.
"It needs to be sorted out as soon as it can for peace in everyone's mind," Tindall said, speaking to BBC Radio Gloucester.
Gloucester are already back in pre-season training under the tutelage of Fitness Coach Mark Bitcon as they look to right the wrongs from last term.
But however much Tindall and his freshened team-mates concentrate on their playing duties, they still remain clouded by the hierarchical uncertainty.
"We're back in pre-season now so we've just got to get on and train," the captain continued.
"Ideally you want everything settled down as quickly as it can be, but in certain areas that's never possible. Towards the top end of the club it always takes that little bit more time.
"Mark's set out what he wants to do and we're just attacking that at the moment and then hopefully by the time it comes round to getting into the rugby side of it things will be sorted."
