Ceiron Thomas: Guinness in favour of Magners

The Scarlets have confirmed that fly-half Ceiron Thomas has departed the region to join Guinness Premiership new boys Leeds Carnegie.

Thomas made 71 appearances for the Welsh and claimed 288 points that included 62 conversions, 42 penalty kicks and a drop goal.

But the 25-year-old revealed it was the right time to move on after over half a decade at Stradey Park and more recently Parc Y Scarlets.

"I thank the Scarlets for all the encouragement they've given me during my time there. I have some great memories from my time with my team mates," he said, speaking to the Scarlets website.

"I have enjoyed meeting many of the great Scarlets supporters and I'm sure the region will go from strength to strength.

"However, I felt it was time for a new challenge and this is a great time to be going to Leeds Carnegie. They have a wonderful set-up and I'm relishing the prospect of playing in the Guinness Premiership."

Thomas began pre-season training in Yorkshire on Tuesday after leaving his home town of Llanelli. The pivot can also play at full-back and has been supporting British & Irish Lions number ten Stephen Jones over recent seasons.

"I am really excited about the challenge of coming to a new club and a new competition," he continued.

"I hope that coming out of my comfort zone at the Scarlets will help me move onto the next level in my career. I can't wait to get started now.

"I was very impressed with the coaching staff of Andy Key and Neil Back when I spoke to them and I knew that Leeds Carnegie was the right club for me when I heard their vision for the team and the club for the coming years."
