Back surgery for Narraway
September 11 2009
Gloucester number eight Luke Narraway has been handed a huge blow after it was revealed he is set to undergo back surgery.
Narraway has been struggling with a back problem since the close season when he was forced to leave an England training camp early.
He did feature in the pre-season friendly against Connacht but has been receiving treatment ever since and it has now been determined that surgery is the best course of action.
"Luke has been bothered by a bulging disc for a little while now. We had hoped rest and recuperation would do the trick," said Bob Stewart, Gloucester's Head of Medical Services.
"However, we've now come to the conclusion, after specialist opinion, that surgery is the most appropriate management at this stage and have booked Luke in for early next week.
"We anticipate that his rehabilitation period will be approximately twelve weeks."
