Staying put: Clarke Dermody

London Irish have been handed a boost ahead of their clash with Leinster with the news that Clarke Dermody has signed a new contract.

The former All Black prop, who will remain at the club until June 2012, originally joined the Exiles in October 2007 from the Highlanders.

Since then the 29-year-old has made 57 appearances in the Guinness Premiership and European competition where he has impressed players and supporters alike with his technique, dynamism and consistency around the pitch.

"Clarke has established himself as one of the best loose head props in the Guinness Premiership," said London Irish Head Coach Toby Booth, speaking to the club's website.

"His ability as an outstanding front row exponent and as a leader is fundamental to the success of London Irish going forward. We're delighted that he has re-signed for another two seasons."

Clarke Dermody said: "London Irish has lived up to my expectations since I arrived in October 2007.

"I've enjoyed being part of a talented and ambitious squad that is committed to playing attractive rugby, and one that can and will win silverware soon.

"My wife and son have also appreciated the family culture that exists around the club and that has been an important factor in our decision to stay."
