Hodgson ends tour with surgery
September 01 2008
Western Force flanker Matt Hodgson has undergone surgery in England overnight to repair a fractured cheekbone suffered in the team's horror 48-7 loss to English Premiership outfit Leicester on the weekend.
The 27-year-old played in all five of the Western Force's tour matches and was amongst the team's best throughout the campaign.
Force team doctor Mark De Cruz said Hodgson would be ready to resume pre-season training in early October.
"Matt was placed into surgery overnight and has had a plate inserted to reinforce a fractured cheekbone," De Cruz said.
"Pre-season training kicks off on October 6 and at this stage Matt will be looking to resume full training on or about that date, give or take a few days."
The Force arrive back from England later this week.
