Force turn the Reds pale

February 05 2010

James O'Connor: In fine form

The home side only scored three tries, but were impressive from start to finish, with James O'Connor in fine form from full-back and Mark Bartholomeusz running the show from fly-half.

O'Connor also impressed with the boot, nailing two conversions and three penalties.

The Force led 25-5 at the break, with tries from Matt Hodgson, Sam Harris and Richard Brown added to by a penalty and two conversions from O'Connor and a long-range effort from Cameron Shepherd.

The Reds' lone score came courtesy of a moment of magic from the returning Quade Cooper, who jinked, broke and grubbered for Rod Davies to snaffle a try.

A less energetic second half began with a try to Reds scrum-half Will Genia, but two more O'Connor penalties had the Force well in front by the end.
