SCARLETS CENTRE Jonathan Davies has become a fixture in the Wales team, but we wanted to know what he gets up to off the field as well as find out his views on a couple of other topics…

MUSIC I like all sorts. I went to see Kanye West and Jay Z with a few of the boys and that was amazing.

SPORT I’m into American sport big time – NFL, NBA, baseball. I watch ESPN more than Sky because it covers more American sports. The NFL starts in September, then there’s the NBA and then baseball.

Rhys Priestland

Room-mate: Rhys Priestland

RHYS PRIESTLAND He rents a room off me – he’s my lodger. There’s not much in my flat – a TV, sofa, it’s minimalist! I’ve got burnt patches on the balcony because of Rhys – he bought a BBQ tray and put it out there, then the bottom of it warmed up!

FOOD I’ll cook and Rhys washes up. I do spaghetti Bolognese or Thai curry – I’m not Gordon Ramsey. I like to eat out too, a bit of Wagamama or Nando’s. I live in Cardiff and a lot of the boys are in area.

THE LIONS My first Lions memories are from ‘97. I was brought up in a pub and my parents had rugby on in there. I remember watching it in the bar, watching Jenks (Neil Jenkins) and Howlers (Rob Howley) playing.

BAR WORK I can pull a decent pint, but I’m not great on mixers – they all seemed weird to me. I used to get out of glass collecting because I’d be playing age-grade rugby. My brother and sister worked there more.

FOREIGN PLAYERS Foreigners have been good for the game in Wales and can have a positive effect on players. For example, Regan King had a massive influence on me. If certain players come in looking for money that can have a negative effect, but if you recruit people who want to come to Wales to play rugby and not pick up a cheque, then young players can learn from them.
