New skills: Dave Attwood, Tom Biggs, Kyle Eastmond, Tom Heathcote and Matt Banahan try the hula hoop challenge

BATH HAVE launched a Children’s Challenge to inspire kids in the local area to get active. The initiative involves a set of fitness challenges aimed at boys and girls aged up to 15 and the aim is for children to lead fitter and healthier lifestyles.

The challenges have been set by Bath players and include sprinting 50m, doing keepy-uppys with a rugby ball and trying to hula hoop longer than lock Dave Attwood!

Bath head coach Mike Ford said: “Children all over the UK need encouragement and outlets like this if we are to steer them away from a culture that revolves around the TV and the sofa!  We are passionate about increasing our engagement with kids all over the region and helping them to be active.”

It’s free to take part in the Bath Rugby Children’s Challenge and you can register here. Check out this video to see more about the scheme – and to watch players hula hooping!
