Learn how to perform a simple take and give

THE TAKE and give is a simple skill that can be really effective in the game. The ability to take and pass, then immediately give the ball to a team-mate can allow you to exploit space quickly.

If you spot an overlap during a match you need to react fast to take advantage – and moving the ball quickly through different sets of hands will allow you to do that.

The video above shows how you can practise the take and give skill. It’s best to practise in groups of three – and swap around so you all get to perfect each role, the take and the pass.

Rugby World delivers step-by-step guides on how to perform various skills in every issue of the magazine to help mini rugby players develop their overall game. Mini rugby coach Nigel Botherway also provides details on different training games minis can play, which are fun and help to improve skill levels.

We have also produced videos showing mini players performing various skills so you can practise replicating what they do to learn the correct technique and improve your game.
