EVER WONDERED what goes on in the front row? France legend Sébastien Chabal is here to explain exactly what the big men with numbers 1 and 3 on their backs do when it comes to scrum time. But what would the likes of Thomas Domingo and Nicolas Mas, two of France’s current front rowers, make of The Caveman’s explanation?!

Chabal provides an entertaining assessment of the prop’s role in this video, and explains a few of rugby’s laws along the way.

Since his own retirement at the end of last season, Chabal has spoken out against the prospect of Steffon Armitage, the Toulon back row who has won five England caps, switching his allegiance and playing for France. A loophole in the IRB eligibility rules states that if Armitage plays Olympic sevens for France, he may be considered to play 15s for the national team in future. But Chabal, affectionately known as Seabass during his Sale Sharks days, said: “You can’t play for one jersey and then another one, what does that mean? It would be strange.”
