The first-half was a cagey affair with penalties being trades by both sides. Dan Biggar had his first miss of the tournament late on in the half to leave the Wallabies, 9-6 up at the break, after three Bernard Foley penalties. Australia went down to 13 men at one point, but survived Wales’ onslaught brilliantly. Australia’s tight defence held out magnificently, when they were down to 13 men they were quite simply immense. Their committment and defensive organisation was different class – it was the defence of potential world champions.
