A flanker who represented Leicester Tigers, London Irish and Saracens with distinction in his career, it is as a defence coach that Gustard is renowned today.

He was a key part of the Saracens set-up, and his ‘Wolfpack’ defence became the stuff of nightmares for opposition. In 2016 he was recruited to be part of Eddie Jones’ England back-room team. Only two years later he was offered the chance to take on the Harlequins project as a director of rugby.

In early 2021 he moved on from the club and had a brief stint with Benetton Treviso in the United Rugby Championship. Today he is the defence coach with Stade Français in the Top 14.
