Tim Payne of London Wasps was today suspended for two weeks for stamping on Gloucester Rugby’s Jim Hamilton and striking Brett Deacon during the Aviva Premiership match at Kingsholm on September 25.
Payne pleaded guilty before an RFU Disciplinary Panel of Christopher Quinlan (chairman), Mike Curling and John Doubleday at the Holiday Inn, Swindon and was banned for a week for each offence. He is suspended until October 18 and can play again on October 19.
Deacon pleaded guilty to striking Payne and was suspended for one week until October 11. He can play again on October 12.
The citing of Chris Budgen of Exeter Chiefs for striking Harlequins’ Mike Brown during the match at The Twickenham Stoop on September 25 was dismissed.
