THE RUGBY World Cup Trophy Tour kicked off in May and is giving people around the globe the chance to see rugby’s biggest prize.

The Webb Ellis Cup is being taken to 15 destinations around the world – from Fiji to France, Australia to Africa – before then embarking on the Domestic Trophy Tour around the British Isles.

The tour is being delivered in partnership with Land Rover, who are also taking the trophy to places it has never been before on each leg on the Least Driven Path.

For example, in Japan Land Rover ambassadors Shane Williams and Daisuke Ohata – former wingers for Wales and Japan respectively – held a coaching session for schoolchildren in the remote village of Nenba. The youngsters also got the chance to get a look at the Webb Ellis Cup – a trophy they had never glimpsed before.

In South Africa in August, World Cup winners Chester Williams (1995) and John Smit (2007) took the trophy to the southern tip of Africa, Cape Agulhas, and you can see what happened in the video above.

The tour also hit Montevideo in October to coincide with the RWC 2015 play-off final between Uruguay and Russia. Uruguay secured the final spot at next year’s World Cup and you can watch what happened on the South America leg of the tour here…
