MUNSTER BEAT the Ospreys 22-20 but whose performances will have impressed Warren Gatland and Declan Kidney?

OSPREYS

Alun Wyn Jones

In one word – immense. He carried his team and produced a real leader’s performance. Not only did he make key tackles, he drove players back, and was at the heart of a tremendous forward effort. And he topped it all off with a try.

Richard Fussell

Looked lively whenever he got the ball and has a wonderful ability to beat, at the very least, the first defender with his gliding running style. Safe under the high ball too. Surely deserves a chance for Wales against the Barbarians.

Break point: Ospreys scrum-half Rhys Webb shows his pace

Rhys Webb

Has big boots to fill having been favoured ahead of Mike Phillips, but is showing great form. Occasionally caught out when isolated, but has a great pass and a good kicking game. Decision-making can only improve with more game time – one for the future.

MUNSTER

Donncha O’Callaghan

Like his international opponent, a real standout performer in the Munster pack. A determined and passionate individual, he was eager to make a statement and get around the park. Great work-rate, especially at close quarters.

Keith Earls

A real livewire. Caused the Ospreys huge problems whenever he got the ball, particularly in the first half, as he has such pace and a knack for being in the right place at the right time. His ability to mix up his attacking game with kicks makes him more dangerous.

Lifeimi Mafi

Okay, he can’t play for Ireland as he’s represented New Zealand in sevens, but how they must wish could. He’s one heck of a player. He picks lovely lines, whether it’s straight and direct or more of an arcing run, attacks space and can sniff out a scoring chance.
