The electric Ange Capuozzo among the players ruled out by injury
The days when an Italy Six Nations squad was just turning up to make up the numbers are long gone. Over recent seasons head coach Gonzalo Quesada has shaped a side that can make life difficult for the very best, though this year injuries mean he’ll have to manage without the talents of Tommaso Allan, Ange Capuozzo, Gianmarco Lucchesi, Sebastian Negri, Jacopo Trulla and Ross Vintcent. Will they still have enough firepower to take on the giants of northern hemisphere rugby?
Quesada’s named a 33-man squad for this year’s championship. Michele Lamaro continues as captain – and is set to win his 50th cap in the Azzurri’s tournament opener against Scotland – while there are two uncapped players in the squad: Zebre Parma back row Samuele Locatelli and centre Damiano Mazza. Northampton Saints’ wing Edoardo Todaro, who won his first cap against Chile in November, is also called up.
As well as including details of the Italy Six Nations 2026 squad, this page will also be the place to come for team news ahead of every one of Italy’s matches in the tournament this season. You can also find line-ups for every one of the Azzurri’s Six Nations matches last year further down the page.
