Can Gregor Townsend’s talented squad be championship contenders?
Head coach Gregor Townsend has named his Scotland Six Nations 2025 squad, and he’ll be hoping this blend of youth and experience can propel his team to a first title since 1999.
He’s picked a pair of uncapped players in this squad of 37. Saracens’ New Zealand-born fly-half Fergus Burke (who qualifies through his Scottish grandfather) is in line to make his international debut, as is Glasgow Warriors number eight Jack Mann.
Sione Tuipulotu continues as captain after taking the armband for the Autumn Nations Series, and he’ll be part of one of the most exciting backs divisions in the tournament. He’s likely to be partnered in the centres by fellow British & Irish Lions contender Huw Jones, while wings Darcy Graham and Duhan van der Merwe will resume their tussle to become Scotland’s most prolific try scorer of all time (van der Merwe is currently one ahead).
With Adam Hastings injured, Finn Russell and Tom Jordan will be competing with Burke for the fly-half slot, while Ben White, George Horne and Jamie Dobie are rivals for the number nine shirt.
In the pack, second row Jonny Gray returns to contention after missing the Autumn Nations Series to focus on new club Bordeaux. Dave Cherry returns for the first time since being concussed during the 2023 World Cup.
Scotland’s campaign kicks off against Italy on Saturday 1 February. Here’s how to watch the Six Nations 2025 wherever you are.
